It seems that the spin cycle on my washer is not working properly. I believe it to be the timer mechanism itself but wanted see if anyone had any other ideas I could check before spending the $100 on the timer.
I can run the machine on any cycle and when it gets to the spin cycle it wont spin out, it just sits there. BUT if I rotate the timer to another cycle, most times it will work, or I may have to do it again to get it to spin out.
Could it just be the contacts in the timer? And if so, how easy is it to clean the contacts or how expensive to have them cleaned?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Take off the timer and see if you can visually find a problem.

With a model this old I think you are probably looking at a new timer to really solve your problem.

Good luck, let us know what you do.

Timer removed and replaced with new. So far so good, working great.

Great, that's the way I thought you would go, and glad it fixed things.

Thanks also for updating us
