We have a Whirlpool Gold Catalyst washer. It has worked fine for over 9 years and worked great this morning. We put a new load in and the tub filled with water, acting normally. When the light switched to "wash" it started blinking and now the washer will not agitate, drain nor spin. We see no error codes nor do we see anything amiss. We tried cycling the washer onto other cycles, but no joy. We have two questions: 1) How do we get the washer to kick into "drain" mode so we can get the water out of the tub. 2) What can be causing this sudden result? We hear a buzzing when the "wash" light is on. The cycle estimated time decreases but nothing else happens. Any ideas floating around out there?

Hi Paul,

I have attached a copy of the tech sheet for your model washer.
Try running the diagnostic to see if you can get it to drain.

I have the same problem, with the exact same washer. It is 9 years old. It has operated flawlessly until today. I tried the diagnostic tests for draining and I hear a clunk like a solenoid is engaging, but it does not drain. I did the test for the keypad/buttons and it does not fail. The lid switch also is good. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

I took the washer apart and found out that the main tap feed wire off the motor had rubbed on metal over the last 9 years and wore through. Fixed it with solder and shrink tube and back in business.
