Default Duet Bearing Repair
Model Number: GHW9100LQ1   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

I had the repair man out today to look at my 4 yr old Duet. It makes a hell of a racket in the spin mode and I suspected that a bearing was shot. He told me the main bearing was gone. They want $900.00 to fix it. On a 4 year old machine !!!!
Soooo.....anyone else had this problem ?? Can I fix it myself ?? What would the parts cost ???
Any help or info would be appreciated !!!!

Probably looking at $251 plus shipping for rear shell assembly, part # AP3773841.Crunch into Google "Whirlpool washer Duet job aid" and download it. A lot of work, best to support shell inside washer with wooden blocks while removing supports, also best to remove any items that could be smashed. Probably 3 to 4 hrs time, may have to use penetrating oil on spin basket shaft and pound out shaft with wood mallet.
Good luck, I try to avoid doing this job.

Geeze, $900 says "I do not want to do this job!"

I Quote $600 to do it. It is frustrating to see people price gouge like that.

It is a HUGE job, though. The Neptune is alot easier.
