What is the capacity of the washer? Can you determine from the model number about how old it is? I probably will want to replace it with a front loader. This washing machine has been determined by Service Today to have a failed drain pump, worn belts, and a timer problem. They said an old Maytag with no rust was built better than any machine they make today. What is your opinion? How does this capacity and functioning compare to the Whirlpool Duet?

In my opinion you have the best washer ever made. If the tub is not rusted out I would fix this machine. Don’t expect to buy a machine like this one although the front-loaders are good machines. Judging by the model number and the parts breakdown I would say this washer is over 12 years old but I am just guessing. I am not trying to talk you into anything because you must know the risk if you do fix this machine and next week the motor goes bad or the tub seal starts leaking……you see where I am going. I just like this machine and it is a shame they don’t make it anymore.

Sorry, I don’t know the capacity of that washer or the capacity of the duet washer. But I would say that the duet would have a larger capacity then the old Maytag washer you have now.
