Intermittent opt.
Model Number: wwse5240d1ww Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years

That is unusual, I can only think that something is happening with the control unit, that it is heating up in some way and that is causing the problem or some other malfunction of the control unit.
Try replacing it and see if that doesn't fix things. Intermittent problems like this are difficult to diagnose and sometimes you just have to keep replacing parts and see which item fixes things.
