Hello and thank you.

This Maytag washer squeals in spin cycle and you can smell something burning during the spin cycle (pretty obviously one of the belts).

Of course, I suspect something to do with the belt(s). The belts seem very loose. I know that the pump belt is supposed to be loose with no more than 1/4" inch space when pinching the belt.

What I am wondering though, is the main drive belt able to stretch so much? The motor has two tension springs, could they need replacing? Or is just a new belt in order?

When in the spin cyle, I can physically pull on the motor to tension it, the spin works just fine.

Belts, and springs? Or just belt?

Any other hints/tips for installation? Much appreciated! Very low on cash... I'll spare you the details.

Thanks much!

Clean and oil the rollers under the motor mount, should fix the problem. Also check for a busted spring.
