I can't remove the control knob for the timer control to replace the timer. Any suggestions?

Normally these Whirlpools have one of two ways to do this. 1. On some timers you will push in the knob and unscrew it counter clockwise.
2. The other type has a little plastic tab on the back. Take off the two screws holding the console to the cabinet, flip it up and instructions should be on the back of the timer.
Good luck, let us know how it goes

Good luck, let us know how it goes Option 2 did the trick. I had attempted unscrewing it and had already taken the control cabinet loose but did not once see the VERY small writing on the back of the control timer. Very simple after that. Thanks much.

I know what you mean, all of us struggled with that one the first time (the people that knew just stood around and watched me get frustrated).
Glad you got it, thanks for getting back to us.
