Model Number: PAV2300AWW Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
I have a Maytag washer that came with the house i bought 3 monthes ago. It has a habit of leaking water and shaking when in the spin cycle. I took the front panel off and noticed it had the inner basket had worn a hole in the outter tub approx. 3" long and 1" wide oval in shape about 2" down from the upper lip of the outside tub. I took the top of the waher off took out the agitator and noticed 4 bolts that attach the tub to the transmission. These bolts were all tight however the inner basket wobbles independant of the outter tub and the bolts are not actually holding the inner basket tight to the transmission. This allows the inner basket to move enough to rub against the outter tub. Is this correct or should the bolts hold the basket tight so it doesn't wobble?

I have a Maytag washer that has worked well for a couple of years. Only recently the machine is knocking and jumping around across the floor when on the spin cycle. What is the problem? How can I repair it myself? Please advise. Thank you.

I have a Maytag PAV2300AWW that has developed a decided "wobble" also. The belt is a bit worn, but the springs and the support arms seem to all be in proper repair. What else might cause such a wobble? or will replacing the belt help?

You probably have a worn snubber near the base of the washer. This is rather labor intensive.Pull front panel and look for oil deposits or fine white shavings. If shavings, your snubber is bad.Go to the general talk section and click on appliancejunk and select manuals, then washers.
They will show how to remove the tub and snubber. However, you will not need the expensive brake removal tool. Just buy 6 8-32, 1 1/2 inch screws and replace the short ones on the snubber housing and back them off symetrically till the spring tension is released
