Model Number: LXR6232EQO Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
I have a whirlpool washer that is approx 11 years old. I have never had a problem until now. The washer fills up with water and drains as it should however the agitator will not move. So basically all I do is soak my clothes. I checked to see if it was a belt but the only belt I found was ok. I was told it would probably be cheaper to buy a washer than have it fixed. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions.

The coupling that connects the motor to the transmission is probably broken. This is a very common problem and if you do-it-yourself it will cost around $12 to repair. This link will help Whirlpool Washer Disassembly Guide
