Our washer is leaking a small amount during the spin cyle and there is a large black residue spot under the middle of the washer. Can you suggest what is causing this and what part is needed?

Hi Judy

The leak is likely coming from the tub seal, and the large black spot is probably the grease being washed out of your transmission.

Given the age of your machine I recommend you replace it. If it is over 10 years old it has served you well and I am sure it would not be offended if it were retired.

I would remove the outer case of the washer and look where the leak is. Could be the pump or the tranny, or just coupler residue.
