Model Number: Hav2360aww Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
My Maytag is squeaking when in spin mode, but is the motor assembly supposed to be able to be tighten (similar to an alternator in a car). Belt will be replaced.

The motor is suppose to free float and tighten itself when it gets up to speed.

I replaced the belt on the washer, which totally fixed problem of banging and noisy spin cycle. On second load today, (towels) a medium size load..the spin cycle did not start, and water still in machine.

The most common thing that will cause this it the water pump will become hard to turn. This could have caused the belt go bad. To check this, remove the belt and attempt to turn the pump by hand. It should turn freely both ways.
