Well, I think that is a unique set of problems.
Logic dictates that the timer must be replaced, and unless there is some type of weird electrical wiring problem that should likely fix it. Here is your part. Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Timer, part number: 3953248 Good luck, hope this does the job. Update us as to how it turns out.

Replace the water level switch. The part about the agitator running without water would definetly be the water level switch. Replace it first, and then report back and let me know how it goes. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
