My Kenmore washer works fine untill the final spin. Instead of giong into high speed spin it turns slowly in one direction then stops and turn slowly in the other directions when all done clothes are soaking wet.

I was told to check the door lock and was told a simple way to do that was to have the machine go into its final spin mode and after about 2 minutes unplug the machine and see if you can open the door, if the door open right up the lock is no good. I tried this and the door would not open it took about a minute or so before it would open whitch tells me that the wax motor/ lock is working correctly. I also checked all hoses and pump for anything cought in them, that was ok. I remover the speed control unit and checked the fuse in it and that was fine.

Any known problems that would cause this?

Try replacing the speed control unit. It fails regularly on these models.
