The other day my washer stopped spinning and will not drain, we looked under the washer and seen what looked to be a belt could this have been the problem. Thanks

Hi Tammy

Thanks for getting us your model number.

Your machine is a direct drive washer, and does not have a belt, so I cannot determine what you found or whether or not it is a part of the washer.

A couple of questions

1. Does the timer advance on its own?
2. I know you said the washer does not drain. Does this mean that if you move the timer to the end of the wash or rinse cycle water will not flow out?
3. If you start the machine from the beginning, does it fill and agitate?
4. Does your problem happen in all cycles?

It is possible your lid switch broke during the cycle. Un plug the machine. Unscrew the console and flip it back. You will find a plastic connector connecting wires from the console going into the cabinet. Disconnect this and use a short, insulated solid wire to by-pass the lid switch by inserting the ends of that wire into the two outer holes on the connector coming from the console. Plug in the machine, move to spin and see if it spins. If it does the lid switch is your problem.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.
