My FWTR657GHSO front loading Frigidaire will not spin or agitate. I needed to move the washer to clean under it right before it stopped working. (I had .5 inch of water under it). The washer fills with water and pumps it out. The timer does not seem to move. Ideas?
thanks PhilJ

Hi Phil I think you need to find the source of the leak, fix it and then see if the machine will operate correctly. If it does, ok, if not then we can take a look at what might be that problem. I would take off the front access panel and the rear panel and see if you can spot the leak. Here is the service manual. http://frigidaireservicetips.co..._TumbleActionWashers.pdfGood luck and please post your results.

The "leak" was a backed up sewer line. I got that fixed right away, the smell was bad. If a bad odor could kill a washer, I would blame the backup. The water was not very high, .5 inch under the washer. The washer stopped working after I cleaned up and needed to move the washer to clean up the mess.

Ok, good. I did not understand that the leak was external to the machine.
I am assuming that what has happened is that the machine was working, then you had your sewer backup problem, then you cleaned up the water (my son had a similar backup, I agree, it is awful) and now the timer will not advance after water enters the machine and it is ready to wash.
The two likely culprits are a speed control board and the timer itself. If the above is a good description of what happened, I think the speed control board is the more likely source, since the backup of sewage water could have damaged it.
Unfortunately there is no good way to test the board, you would just have to replace it and hope that fixes it.
If you decide to go ahead, the manual will tell you how to remove and replace the board. If it turns out that does not fix the machine, then you can replace the timer. That might not work either, but these two items are your best bet.
Sorry I could not be more definitive, but good luck and let us know what you decide to do and how it turns out.

To save money, instead of buying the speed control board, I would invest in a digital meter and check for 115 volts to the input of the speed control board, usually a black and white wire going to a two pin connector on the board. If no voltage, you can refer to the service sheet to find which timer contacts are bad. Your timer has a cover so you can remove that and check for burnt contacts.
