I tested the motor according to the repair manual and got these readings:

pins 1 to 5 high spd stator, normal = approx 0.2 ohm, actual = 0.8
pins 5 to 10 low spd stator, normal = approx 1.1 ohms, actual = 1.8
pins 6 to 7 protector, normal = approx 0.0 ohms, actual = 0.6
pins 3 to 4 tacho, normal = approx 68 ohms, actual = 68
pins 8 to 9 brusher, normal = approx 0.95 ohms, actual = 3.6

are these readings ok, are they just showing a little wear n tear, or is the motor shot?

many thanks & appreciation!
