If you have to cut the water off at the wall to get the water to stop the water inlet valve is bad. If cutting the washer off stops the water there is a problem with the water level control. there is a hose that runs from the water level switch to the tub check to see if that has came loose if so push it back on. I have a maytag and I have replaced the motor and the water pump. Where is the water level hose? Would that be the problem for the water not turning off when full?

It could very well be. The same thing as I said above if you have to shut the water off to make the water stop replace the water inlet valve and if turning off the washer stops the water the water level control or hose is bad. On Maytag they more often get stopped up rather than come off but either one will cause this. If the hose is not clogged up or off I would replace the water level control. The location of the hose depends on the model but it’s a small hose that runs from the water level control to the bottom of the tub.
