Model Number: 80 series-hev. duty Brand: Kenmore Age: Less than 1 year
Just replaced all water lines in the house with a corresponding increase in water pressure. Also new washer hoses (ACE lifetime rubber with metal braiding).
NOW everytime the washer's water cycle turns on- it makes a loud cut-on clunk or thud noise. Anybody know why, and how? thanks Ads By Google Related Models |

From your description, my first guess would be that you did not install vertical air cushions on your new wate lines???? Now, you have increased water flow/pressue and when the water starts to flow or shuts off, you are hearing the "water hammer" when the flow stops. An air cushion is necessary to provide a "shock absorber" to dampen out the quick flow change.

At each faucet or outlet (hot & cold), a vertical, deadheaded tube (so it will only hold air, not water) needs to be installed to allow for an air cushion to absorb the shock of rapid water flow changes when the faucet is opened or closed. Hope you can understand what I'm suggesting. If not, check out some basic plumbing sites on line. A "Google" search found this site which may help you. See: The Natural Handyman's Water Hammer Page or other similar sites. Good Luck.
