Default Motor replacement
Model Number: LAT8026AAE   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

After filling all the machine does is hum. I traced the humming to the motor. I can manually turn the motor by pulling the belts and everything seems to be free.
Is there anything else I could check to make sure I don't have to replace to motor? ($100+)

The first thing I would do is remove the belts from the motor pulley and check how it works without belts.
Check wires and wires connection to the motor.

Gene.

maytag used to have a start cap you could add to the motor to help give the motor a little extra push, but you are probably better off replacing the motor if it is indeed bad..
