The F30 code refers to a failure of the dispenser motor. The clicking you were hearing was probably the dispenser motor switch going on and off trying to activate the dispenser motor.

Here is the service manual.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Servic...LE/8178558.pdf

I would recommend you contact Whirlpool and see if they will not give you warranty coverage since it was so close to the expiration. If not, I think this is an easy and relatively inexpensive repair that with the help of the manual you can do yourself.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Thank you, I will follow your recommendation's.

This is simply a great site. I repaired my side by side refrigerator a year ago with the help of this site. 5 Star's for sure.

Thanks Again.

sidfink4,

No luck on the warranty coverage. When I removed the top cover to the washer I noticed plastic shavings by the "lever" pn#AP3868475. With this said, should I replace the entire dispenser? The other "lever"; pn#AP3866054 was slightly bent upwards with the "Cam" pn#AP3866291 stuck in between both "switch-dis" pn#AP4365357 mounting screws.
Should the cam move freely, (I wouldnt think so)? In the manual pictures, (https://secured.whirlpool.com/Servic...LE/8178558.pdf) on page 4-10; it appears the cam is pointed 180 degrees from the position I found mine. Is the cam suppose to turn 360 degrees?
Can I attach a photo somehow to show you?

Thank you for your assistance!

Regards,

Ray

Default Hard Water?

Had the same problem, got the C:02 code from the diagnostic test. Got lucky though (I hope) took the lid off the washer and the little arm on top of the dispenser was in front of the first postion. There was a good amount of hard water deposits, cleaned it moved the arm to the first position and its working.

I hope that was it and its not a sign of it going out. If it was caused by hard water should I take it apart to clean?

But anyway thanks for the link it was mighty helpful

Glad the comments were useful and that you got your machine up and running. Seems like this is getting to be a problem with these, so your responses will be useful in the future.

thanks

Great, my wife is also shocked whenever I am able to fix anything, or at least not make it worse.

Default Our problem was with the connectors

Our error code f-30 seemed to be resulting from something different, but the information posted here enabled me to solve it.

After taking off the lid, I could see the mechanism turning, and it seemed to be turning fine but with a couple of clicks in two groups as the large motor sprocket slowly turned. (I think that's the clicking or grinding people are hearing.) I was about to take apart the housing around the motor when the two wires leading to the the top connector of the motor dangled freely. Their was no connector. Whoever assembled it or fixed it before just bypassed the connector and wedged the bare ends of the wires into the slot where a proper connector should go. That was my problem. Those wires probably send a signal to the processor that the motor has turned the sprocket to the proper place. The clicking is the mechanical switches triggering that should be sending that signal, but couldn't because the circuit was broken. The clicking or grinding that people report is the switched triggering as the motor slowly turns the sprocket around and around when it should only make half a turn before the processor stops it and turns on the water flow. The processor never gets that signal, so it assumes the motor isn't working, isn't turning the sprockets, so it throws an F-30.

I fixed mine by pressing the two wires into the top and bottom of the three prongs where the upper connector should have been (and wrapping it in electrical tape.) So far so good.

Thanks for all the help.
