front cover of washer was opened and a green flashing light was seen. the light flasher 7times then stoped and was repeated continuously. after troubleshoot the 7 flash meant lid switch did not open. does this mean i would need a new lid switch?

This code will prevent the motor from operating. This means that you washed clothes four times and the lid switch never opened. The lid switch is bad and needs replacing. But if after replacing the lid switch the code reappears replace the motor. You also have to clear the code this link will tell you how and describe in more detail all of the error codes.
