My washer won't drain. (In fact, it may have stopped during the wash cycle because when I opened the lid, assuming the washer had run entirely thru the wash, rinse and spin cycles, I found the washer was full of wash water.) I advanced the control dial to "spin" and it only made a humming noise. The only other symptom is the washer had been behaving like this for a number of months, and I would simply restart it, sometimes by unplugging it first. If you anyone thinks they know what what might be causing this and responds, will you explain how to remove the cover also? I think I saw in another thread for this model that the front cover needs to be removed to gain access to most of the mechanical parts (down below?). Thank you VERY much!

Unplug the machine. Insert a putty knife or similar tool into the space between the front panel and top, in line with the edges of the lid. Push against the spring clips, and at the same time, pull out on the top corners of the front panel. It will then pivot forward, and lift off the clips on the bottom. The pump sits right in front, on the right as you face the machine. This machine has a tendency to allow items of clothing into the tub to pump hose, and sometimes into the pump itself. Bail or drain the tub the best way you can to get as much water out of the tub as you can. Remove the hose and inspect it for clogs. Check the tub drain outlet, and also the pump. Magician and Gary, Thanks for the quick reply! Question, tho, since this machine has a history of stopping in the middle of the wash/agitation cycle, occassionaly multiple times per cycle, wouldn't that indicate the possibility that something else is failing, like the drive motor or transmission (if it has one)? My instinct was that since the machine had a history of stopping, whatever had caused it to do so might have finally and completely failed. I then assumed that perhaps the humming noise (not very loud) I heard when I advanced the control knob to "spin" was the pump. Is my diagnosis impossible in your opinion? Thank you so much!
