My washer had an unbalanced load and shook like crazy. I ran over to shut it off but by the time I got there it shut off. The water will turn on and fill tub but it won't agitate or drain the water. There was a gray plastic piece with a little spring on it in the bottom of the drum. any suggestions?

Well that part is a mystery, I don't know what it is.

Take off the cabinet and inspect the supports, and see if the transmission will turn if you take off the motor. The shaking may have damaged the transmission.
