Washer Repair

I put in some boxers in the washer and after it a while i went into the shower and took a shower came out i smelled smoke so i went into the kitchen and there was smoke in the laundry room, so i looked and nothing was on fire and only i looked in the washer and the washer had my clothes in it, after taking out the clothes i tried to spin the water our and the machine wont spin, but the machine will put water into it but just wont spin what could be wrong? hopefully not a motor cause i heard those are expensive>.>

BTW IT WILL NOT EVEN MAKE A SOUND not sound no spinning just puts in water

Sounds like it was a motor. What is the complete model number of the washer? You wrote it is less than a year old. Is it correct?
