Hi J

Okay, here is what we think is going on with your machine.

Your washer has delicate electronic parts, and to protect them the machine has a built in surge protector, much the same way you probably have a surge protector on your computer line.

The CI comes up when there is a surge. If this were a one time event the likely source would be in your home wiring, but since it is a regular occurrence the problem is in your washer. Basically, a circuit in your washer is shorting (grounding) out and causing the power surge, which trips your protector and gives you the display error.

The problem is finding the problem. The first thing you want to do is to inspect all of the wiring for a break, bad contact, frayed insulation, burned spot etc. This is probably not the problem, but this is the easiest place to start and it is cost free.

If you do not find a problem, you need to consider the motor. The most likely problem is in the motor, and unfortunately the only way you are going to determine if this is the situation is to replace it, which is an expensive way to go. However, if you have a service tech visit he or she is going to replace the motor at much greater cost, and if you decide to replace the machine, well, that is even a greater cost.

So my recommendation is that if you cannot find a shorted or grounded wire, replace the motor. No guarantees but it is your most likely chance to fix this thing. If it turns out not to be the motor, then the next suspects are the motor control board and the central control unit, also expensive fixes.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
