The washer fills fine but when it comes time to agitate the motor hums for 5 seconds then pops the circuit breaker. If I rotate the dail to the spin cycle it will spin and drain just fine. I disconnected the motor from the transmission and the motor starts and spins after it fills. Bad transmission or switch? How to test?
Thanks for any help.

A bad switch should not cause the circuit to blow. My guess is your transmission is jammed. See if you can turn it in the agitate direction, if not it is likely the problem.
