Model Number: KAWS700GQ0 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: More than 10 years
Whats wrong now? Its 12 years old and have never had a problem till now.
I had the "no spin" issue and replaced the drive coupler. I replaced it but it vibrated badly during the spin cycle and still didn't seem right and had a bad smell. After talking to a technician in the parts store his best guess from my description was it be the transmission. I replaced that and am still having an issue where it smells burning/electronic smell after the 1st load during the end of wash spin cycle. I felt the clutch, breaks and transmission all being cool to the touch. The motor however was very hot. Is it possible the transmission caused a meltdown on the motor and now its a casualty of the bad transmission? The agitator seems to freely spin after the new transmission as before it would not. The breaks appear to be in good shape along with the clutch. Is it possible the clutch isn't working, like the spring is weak? Where do I go from here? I feel like I'm married to it now and have to see it through finically Thank you! Photo attached of brakes Ads By Google Related Models |

Remove the pump and motor and turn the tranny coupler clockwise till it starts to spin. If very hard to turn, you have bad brake shoes or something stuck in the tub. You can go to my sticky above "replacing direct drive washer brake shoes" for info on this.
