My washer has no cold water. I switched the hoses so now I can get the cold water on the hot setting. My question is I can see the valve from the inside but what do I need to do to access it to replace it.

What you really have is a direct drive Whirlpool. If you will look at the video library at the top of this page you will find a video on how to open it up and check it out. Before replacing the valve assembly use a multi-meter to see that the cold water valve is getting power when it calls for it.
