Hold to start button will not work to turn on washer

Check to see if you are getting 110-120v to the control unit. If so, try replacing the control unit.

Just replaced the control unit and there is no change. control unit powers up-cycle light is flashing, will not allow me to run diagnostics. i have unpluged every wire harness i can find and checked the connection. Any other ideas?

Well that is a mystery, if the control unit won't allow diagnostics it is usually the control unit at fault.
I did have one similar situation like this and ended up having to replace the door lock assembly. Why that fixed it I have no idea.
