Washer fills, but will not agitate, drain or spin. Timer does not advance after washer fills. Lid switch was melted, so I replaced it, but that still did not make it run. Should I replace the timer or check something else? I don't want to buy a new timer and it still not fix the problem. Thanks.

The lid switch should have fixed things, although since you say it was melted that suggests some type of power surge. First try by-passing the lid switch, and if that does not fix things check out all the wiring and then if it still needs fixing try changing out the control unit.
