Been working on 2 direct drive models.
One neede a clutch but the other jammed and I found the trans frozen.
Took it apart and the "RACK" gear was busted.
Got a new gear that came in a package FSP and the part marca REg.
with FSP 8546456, but it is not as smooth as the original in casting
and finish, also the teeth are a bit thicker.
It all fits ,but as I'm bench testing it the agitator direction is fine,
but reversing the direction it starts to walk up the shaft gear and jams.
If I hold the rack gear down it works fine and changes mode to spin,
and also goes back to agitate.
Could there be alater design change?
I haven't filled oil and the shaft is not fully center supported since
I'm still testing .
Don't want to fully assemble if it has a problem.
Is this a known issue?
thanks

While the new gear does not have quite the fit and finish as the old,
it seems the problem may just have been the lack of oil.
I greased it and it worked much better.
When I'm done bench testing it I will add gear oil.

The neutral parts don't seem to work,it agitates and spins but there is no delay between action for drain cycle.
I followed diagram on a part site, "Applianceparts etc" but not fully sure it is displayed in correct orientation.

Is there a site that shows the neutral kit drain order of assembly and how best to test that it is right?
Thanks

Is there posted somewhere the neutral drain method of reassembly? Is there a way to bench test? I've coupled a drill-driver to trans and run both directions-get agitation and spin but no delay action for drain, not completely sure I re-assembled parts exactly. There is a floating cam with lobes in the center and the 3 levers, it looks like centripetal force is required for the correct action, not sure a drill/driver provides adequate speed. Thanks
