My washer washe's only on the wash cycle. then it stop's it doe's not go into the rinse cycle. the water doe's not drain out . doe's not rinse or spin. I was going to put a timer in should I ? Roy P.

No, check out the lid switch and replace it if it is defective. Much more likely than the timer.
