I've just "fixed" a problem with my Maytag MAV7000AWW washer and I thought I'd post this in case it may help someone else.

The washer would not start any rinse cycle -- colors, whites, delicates or any of the "extra rinse" cycles. All wash cycles worked fine, but when the wash cycle spun down, the knob would stop at the beginning of the rinse cycle and the washer would do nothing. The machine would not fill the tub with rinse water. Manually moving the knob to any rinse cycle (or "extra rinse" cycle) had no effect.

The cause: no water temperature was selected. (For some reason, this did not prevent the wash cycle from working; it filled with warm water.) All four temp-selector buttons were out; none was depressed. I selected a temperature and the rinse cycles worked fine, again.

Background:
I came to this forum looking for a posting of this problem and found one with identical symptoms on a different Maytag model. That user found that his cold water supply had been off, causing the problem. (I mention this in case you, the reader, might find this helpful and haven't already read that posting.) My water supply was on, so that wasn't my problem. As I stared blankly at the control panel, contemplating removing the cover to look for a loose wire or some other obvious problem (not really wanting to do it, since I got only 3 1/2 hours sleep last night and long to get some more...), it hit me: all four water temperature selector buttons were out. When the washer was last used (I didn't do it, but won't tattle :)), someone apparently didn't push the desired button all the way in, but did push it in far enough to cause the previously-selected temp button to pop out. I pushed one in and -- voila!
