I had a load in and thought it was done only to find the clothes soaking wet. I cant even manually move the agitator. Can't figure out how to get the back panel off due to so many plastic clips that will break if I try to take them off. Can anyone help me.

Well, the good news is that you cannot get the back panel off because it is not supposed to come off.

I suggest you do the following.

1. Watch this video which will show you how to tear down your machine.

YouTube - Direct Drive Washing Machine Repair Video Tutorial *Watch in HIGH Quality!*

2. After you get the console panel flipped back, disconnect the plastic coupling to the lid switch and "jumper" it back sticking a solid, insulated wire into the two outer terminals of the plastic coupling on the wire coming from the console.

Then see if the machine will go into drain and spin mode. If it does, you have a lid switch problem, which you can easily replace by removing the cabinet and taking out the old switch and putting in a new one.

Good luck and please post what you find.

washer comes apart from the front, not the back. 2 screws holding the control panel in place, it lifes up, then 2 clamps hold the frame in place it life off the frame ,and you'll see the whole works in the drawer.

Thanks for the help. I got the control panel up and the encasement of the washer off. I tried the lid switch bypass and that wasn't it. It makes noise like it's trying to do something but it isn't. Any other things I can try?

The coupling between the motor and the transmission is the most likely problem. To check this first remove the case by removing the two clips you see to the right and to the left of that plug you jumped out. Once off the case should lean forward and off. Then remove the water pump (I just leave the hoses attached and move it to the side) its held on by two clips. Next remove the motor, it is also held on by two clips but you have to remove the screws that hold on the clips. Once the motor is off you should see the coupling its either broken or the hole is rounded out or the rubber is torn. Whirlpool Washer Not Running Repair Guide

Thanks for your help. I did take off the motor and the coupling is broken. I can't find one of the white pegs that broke off. Hope it isn't in the motor somewhere. I'll see if I can get the part tomorrow. I really appreciate all your help. My husband over loaded the washer when he was laid off and doing the laundry now he's working and I'm home fixing the washer. So I really do appreciate the link to the video and all your help. I'll update if I can fix it tomorrow.

I got the part which cost $21 at a local appliance parts store and had it installed in 20 minutes. My hard part was getting the cabinet back around the washer. I had to redo it 3 times which took me about 30 minutes. The back panel kept coming off the bottom frame when I put the cabinet around the base. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the youtube posting to my question since I don't know the names of the parts and when he showed how to do it on youtube he did a great job informing me of each part and step to get the coupler out. Thanks again.

Taking 30 minutes to put the cabinet back is sort of a rite of passage, everyone experiences it that way. The next time it will go on the first time!

Glad it worked out, and thanks for updating us.
