GE Profile -- During the wash cycle the drum spins in a continous direction while the agitator works back and forth. This causes the water to spill out of the overflow tube. What could be the problem?

The brakes are not working. What is the model and serial number? When GE first came out with the new style washers they had a lot of problems with this. What would happen is that the ball bearings that engage the brakes would stick because of bad lubricant. This only happened with certain models made in a certain time so I would need the model and serial to say for sure. But if its not one of these models you will have to replace the transmission because the brakes are made onto the transmission. Clothes Washer Repair Guide

[FONT='Times New Roman']Looked into the bearing thing I mention last night and it turns out the repair kit for the brake bearing has been discontinued so you will have to replace the transmission. I even found the old service bulletin on it.
