Hi,
My Maytag MAV6300AWW won't spin, but will drain and go through the cycle. What I've tried, tipped up the machine, pulley spins and works and can turn both ways. When up top, tub is locked always and wont spin.
Please help.

Try replacing the thrust bearing, this part here. Instructions are included

Now that pulley spins when I tip up the machine during the spin cycle, does that matter? I dont get why the tub wont move.

Is there any way to test that it is the thrust bearing before I buy it?

See if you can push upwards on the pulley while turning it and see if that engages the tub and it spins. I assume that when it is running the motor is operating freely and the pulley is turning but it won't spin.

It worked! I hit it with a pair of pliers while running and it engaged, now it works but makes a loud screech when it stops so the thruster bearing is bad I assume that will fix all that?

The screeching when it stops is the sign of a brake problem, maybe caused by the impact of the pliers.

It may correct itself, try it for a little while.
