Washer Repair

We are having trouble with our machine, possibly the cycle selector knob.

For some reason, the wash cycle is not working when the knob is in the 12:00-3:00 position (heavy wash, normal, perm press, light wash)
and the
6:00 - 9:00 position (knits/delicates)
It does work in all the rest of the areas. (spin cycles/rinse)

It seems like the knob is the problem, but we are not sure.

We would appreciate any suggestions that anyone can provide.

I would try changing out the timer, this part here since it seems to be mechanically ok.
