Our maytag washer makes noise and a smell when in use. Is it the belts that need to be replaced??? If so how do we replace the belt or belts???

How do i know if the belts need to be replaced, they are not broken

Thank you for your help i found one belt bad, very easy to change the belts :-)

Is it rue that these old machines are built better than the new models. This is over 20 yrs old and till today never had anything done on it....

You are absolutely right. I've seen them almost 30 years old with the very first minor problem like a broken hose.
