Default Whirlpool Washer will not spin
Model Number: LA9680XWW0   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
The washer will not spin, it just fills up with water and sits there. Replaced the coupler and pump because they needed it. The motor will just hum until the internal breaker pops. The motor stop humming when you open the lid. The motor does turn. Took it out and benched tested the wires with an ohm meter and everything checked out OK. Maybe the motor Centrifugal switch?

I have checked the motor switch and it seems to be OK, still want to figure out what is going on with this.

Check for lateral play in the motor shaft, if so, replace the motor.AP2907254

I checked the lateral play and there is some. When you move it back and forth there is a slight clack. It measured around .024 in total movement. Would that cause the problem, motors aren't cheap.

You have a bad motor, bearing play causes the rotor to jam against the stator housing.
