Model Number: sav4655eww Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
Hello,my Maytag washer started making a god awful noise (like the gears that make the tub spin arent engaging fully) when the machine is trying to spin...the load doesn't have to be alot but tub will not spin and I need to know if this is a MAJOR fix or can I take washer apart and replace just one part or how do I troubleshoot this? I'm a single father with not alot of money so anyone who has a solution please respond...Thanks

Noise like this are hard to diagnose from afar, but sounds like a brake or transmission problem. In either case I think your best bet is a new machine. If you want to go the used route a good used Whirlpool made direct drive will do just fine and should cost about $125 to $150.
