I have a 28 year old portable Lady Kenmore that has been a trooper until yesterday. The washer fills, and agitates but doesn't drain. I have taken it apart and the timer control is still working, so I am thinking it may be the pump. But before I buy a new one, I thought I would throw this out to the experts.

Thanks,

tw

i will either be the pump or the wig wag. the best way to work on this washer is to disconnect the water hoses to the washer. pull the drain hose out of the washer, and then pull the washer forward, and lay it down on the front. then take the two 5/16th screws holding the back panel on off, and remove the cover, and then take the hoses off the pump, and the remove the 2 screws holding in the pump. when you put the pump back on make sure the bar with the rubber end fits in the small slot. good luck tom

Hi Kayakcrzy

Thank you for the information! I now know what a wig wag is. Speaking of which, is it more likely to be that as opposed to the pump? Also, if there is any way to check whether it it one or the other before ordering parts that would be great.

Again thanks,
tw

the only way is to ohm out the coils on the wig wag. but to be honest with you, i would replace them both since you are going in there. if money is an issue, you would have to ohm out the coils. tom

Hi Kayakcrzy

I finally found the time to tear the machine apart and put in the wig wag and pump. She is working like a top!

Thank you so much for all your help, now I just have mounds of laundry to deal with lol

Hi, I have a Lady Kenmore stackable from the 1970s that may be similar to the one discussed here four years ago. (11084370110). If it too is the best of the best, I will call a repair person to come see why it doesn't agitate even though it does everything else. I want to keep her going as long as I can. Thanks.
