There is a clunking noise during agitation when washing. Also, both the agitator and tub sometimes spin at the start of the wash cycle and then the tub would lock in place if the agitator is held. What is the problem and what parts would I require.

Sounds very much like a transmission failure, and replacing the machine is the better choice than repairing the machine.
