Installed a bunch of new parts from APP including new transmisssion gears and brake assembly (thanks so much!) and the washer is working fine now except it is making a new whining screeching sound when it begins to spin. Could it be a belt or do I have the brake installed incorrectly? Is there any way I can post a video of it so a pro can hear the sound and tell me what you think?

Sound are almost impossible for us to diagnose, even with a video, because we need to be there to hear the type and location.
I doubt if this is the belt, more likely a bearing issue, but run it with the front cover off and see what you can determine.

Since the new sound is only occurring during the draining part of a cycle, I'm suspecting the pump. It's the only thing I haven't replaced yet. Does a bad pump make a loud sound when it is about to expire?

Yes it can be the pump, but the pump is running during agitation also, in the opposite direction so if it is the pump it should be making noise all the time. It could be a defect that has a problem on on spin so listen to it with the front panel off and you should be able to tell if it is coming from the pump.
