on occasion, the water does not completely drain from the washer, so even after spinning the clothes can be very wet. Is this a typical issue, and what part(s) are normally required to fix this issue. Twice when the washer was not in use and the front door was left open to air out the unit, the water has overflowed out of the front door.
One other question: the washer can smell like mold, I pull back and clean out behind the door seal with diluted clorox to remedy this, is there something else to do?

This sounds very much like a blockage in the drain lines inside the machine, or more likely in the pump. Clean out the pump and you may well fix the problem with no new parts and expense.
Your problem with water collecting in the boot may be related to the drain problem. If not, check the boot to see if it has a drain hole that is clogged.
Mildew is a major problem with all front loaders. Check with your local appliance repair parts store for cleaner, bleach is probably not a good idea.

I have the same issue...after the spin cycle, my cloths are still very wet.
The suggestion was to check the drain lines and pump for blockage. Can someone tell me how to check this and point me to a diagram that I can review?

Check this site http://appliancejunk.com/forums/for a repair manual for the regular (not sport) duet. The manual will be for an earlier model than yours, but it should be sufficiently applicable to help you out.
