This washer together with the dryer was part of the house that we purchased about a year ago. It was a selling point and was newly installed. It's been moving and shaking and has a mold around the belt/gasket of the door. Just this morning, I noticed a burnt odor and smoke coming out near the light bulb. What can cause the burnt odor and smoke? Will this be part of warranty, if so, will the warranty be parts and labor? Unfortunately, the previous owner did not leave the purchase receipt; the only thing I have is the instruction manual. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hello, it could be the seal starting to go out. Once that happens the bearings will go, too. You can change the bearings and seal kit and save lots of money. See NEPTUNE BEARING for information. They also rent a special Neptune bearing tool to help you change those bearings.

One clue to know if the bearings are going is that the machine will get loud in spin cycle and will sound like a jet taking off.
