when we start or washing machine when it gets to the agitating cycle and the drain cycle it stops and we have to play with the dial and reset it to the right position for it to start draining is it worth it to fix it or get a new one.

Sounds like the timer and if you are doing it yourself yes it is worth it. The timer is most likely under $200 (haven't looked it up) I am sure it is worth that unless you want a new one. For more on do-it-yourself appliance repair visit Appliance Repair Guide For All Major Home Appliances
