Model Number: FAV6800AWW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
As title says we are getting intermittent power down to the motor; I'm first looking at the emi filter but would think that either works or not works, not cut on every once in a while, but am ever hopeful we won't need to replace the main control board. I've looked best I can for loose/broken wires. I did notice clicks from the top side control area as the power came on/off when I had the motor control board clip on a tester. Any help appreciated...

Are you losing 120VAC to the Console Control Board with this issue. Does the Console go dark when this happens? That question would help me on a text troubleshooting step. I assume your tester is it DVM?
Do you have the schematic for your FAV6800A? It should be in the Console if it has not been removed. I have a PDF copy if you need and can e-mail to you. Got to leave for work but will check back in after 01:00 on the E.C. Dick |

I have schematics. It looks like the ground for the line harness grounds at the pressure switch, Neutral shares with the drain pump (which pumps, and door/lid solenoids), hot splits to two motor power relays 1&2. |

I forgot to ask is the 120VAC line condition module OK after the smoke cleared or did you bypass it?
I would do all the testing in Spin Only so you are not going thru water fill cycles. OK so you are losing 120VAC at the Line input connector on the Motro Controler boad. On the pic attached the Upper Plug I have labled 120VAC Line in is that correct? If that is so and the issue would stay failed long enough to trace the 120VAC line input to the Motro Controller then you might nail down the fail point. I would start my 120VAC tracing from K8 relay contacts, to Conn_P8, down thru the 14 pin Upper to Lower Harness connector to the input to the motor controller. Have you reseated Conn_P8 on the Control Board and 14 pin Upper to Lower Harness connector up in the Console. I'm an owner like you and do all my own repairs but I have not seen this issue to date. I agree with you I would not replace the Console Control board or Motro Control Board until further troubleshooting. That said intermittents are a real PITA. Do you have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual? If not Google""16022808.pdf”” to find. It may not be helpful for this issue but good to have on hand............Dick Last edited by dh1200s : 08-26-2011 at 07:18 AM. |
