Washer started having problems. Would work fine but no spin cycle sometimes. Seemed to work if we put it back to the spin cycle and tried again or moved to another spin cycle i.e. permanent press vs normal wash. Then it stopped working all together. Can not be certain issues are related but seems logical or great cosmic coincendence.

If the motor fails to run in spin mode, check your lid switch.
