Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Senior Expert Joined: 8/16/2007(UTC) Posts: 3,273		Tilt it back and remove the belt. Turn the pump (the smaller pulley) in both directions by hand. If it makes noise, replace it. Tell us what you find.

I waited too long to figure out what was making the loud noise and my whole washer seized up in the middle of the spin cycle and made a nice burning smell. Good thing you caught it early. Good luck.
