I need to remove the auger and base from my maytage washer, I have the auger out (as it is broken), but there seems to be no way to remove the base? (I wouldn't even be interested in changing the base but the replacement parts list shows that the auger and base come together only for some reason).

If you are talking about the lower portion of the agitator, Look for a set screw that may have the agitator base attached. If its like mine 1/4" hex head screw just needs to be taken out.
